Is green the most opulent color? In my home, nothing is green except for the forest green sheets in my bed, which I alternate with white ones. I got them from a lady upstate. When I told her that I think green looks good with my eye color, she said, "You have to get them - interiors are an extension of personal style. And you should wear more green.”
More recently, I tried on an emerald green bikini at a lingerie store. “I hope you don’t mind me saying, but that really is not your color,” the woman working there said, "Too dark.”
When I think of green clothes, I first think of hiking wear but there is the other side of green - the rich, jewel tone version, which tells a different story. Of course, there’s mint green, green tea, matcha, the first green of spring, just after the blossoms have fallen and the first leaves have shown their faces.
I interact with green on a daily basis through my glasses case (Ahlem, which incidentally serves Masha green tea at their store locations), and saw that same velvet green two other times this week. First, at a preview of the Prounis jewelry collection’s Vow, a showing of bridal with Desert Vintage, but then also at the Frick collection, where the DO NOT SIT signs on the many green velvet couches in the room with velvet green wallpaper, made me feel nothing less than disappointment.
Another thought on Vow, and wedding season in general, upon seeing the delicate white dresses chosen by Desert Vintage, I thought of the maximalist skirt, jacket, and vintage shirt - with an outfit change to a crocheted Bode top - that I wore to my own wedding. When I found out I was pregnant, my now-husband and I decided to get married before the baby came. I planned a 100 person wedding in three months, during my first trimester, and made a lot of really fast decisions.

I clearly wouldn’t fit in the sexy Khaite dress that I wanted to wear at 18 weeks pregnant so I went for a lot of fabric instead. A wedding is such a snapshot into a moment in time. I think that a wedding can be timeless in the context of style and design, but in the context of a relationship, it’s such a particular moment reflective of who you’re friends with during a specific time, where you’re living, working, how healthy your bodies are. Personally, I love a wedding (feel free to invite me to yours!) We also did teas as guest gifts, everyone went home with one of our love teas :)
My mom wore a long emerald green dress to my wedding.
Some more things to consider :
Feeling green with envy, NYC Parks Department green, street-sign green, a green cross light.
Is green the most opulent color? It depends on the tone, maybe? As much as I want it to be, I think Iris at the lingerie store was right - it’s not my color after all.
Thanks for being here and wishing you moments like these ^
Back to HEALTHY HABITS portion of the newsletter next week. (Which is mostly about the Union Square Farmers market, but also about healthy habits.) My time at the market yesterday just involved grabbing an apple, yogurt, and Knead Love granola and eating it with friends in the park before a sweet day off going to the museum and laying around in Central Park.

The idea of green suits my inner world more than the colour suits my skin. Thanks for you moment of connection.
