Hello! My big news this week is that I got a book deal! Outside of the obvious excitement of being someone who has loved reading and writing from a very small age, and the insane amount of hours, days, YEARS that went into this happening, a very exciting part of this has been getting into Rizzoli lore.
My friend and I got matching mugs ^
(a random pile of books at my local coffee shop^)
(^from Falling in Love with Meryl Streep and Robert De Niro.. here is a New Yorker story about the closing of that original location)
(^ stopped by today - “New York’s most beautiful bookstore since 1964”)
I am so excited to be working on this book, a forever dream of mine, and can’t wait to share it with you. Meanwhile, reading Why Fonts Matter (and thus becoming self-conscious about my font choices!), preemptively eating way too many poppy hamantaschen from Knead Love Bakery, and so on.
Another thing that I’ve noticed in this period in my life is that people are really easily reading me. The other day I went to that junk shop in Williamsburg and got a couple of things and had to buy a tote to carry them in, and the owner said, “you’re just like me, you’re overthinking just choosing a bag. Pick one!” It used to be that people who didn’t really know me thought I was cool, calm, and collected but the veil is thinning between what’s really going on in here and the outside world!
I got mushrooms at the market this morning. Chestnuts and yellow oysters!
