Conversation and vegetables might be at an all time low?
Things I’m Looking Forward to in April
Seeing the new Frick Collection renovation
Return of greens to the farmers market - it’s starting. I saw mustard greens today. Mustard greens are something I’d rather look at than cook though. Or have somebody else cook for me. These days, I like an easy green that doesn’t ask too much of me. In certain phases of my life - like this one - when I feel like a lot is being asked of me from all directions, I don’t want my vegetables doing the same. I was going to say that if you’re coming to my house for dinner these days, come for the conversation not the vegetables, but in truth, it’s more come for painting and making up stories with my daughter. Conversation and vegetables might be at an all time low? (I tried to insert an emoji here but I don’t know if you can do that on Substack!) Stay for the tea and a maple candy. I am looking forward to the greens returning to the farmers market though. Even if I don’t intend to cook all of them. It’s still nice to have the option. Plus at certain times, as much as I want to, I can’t resist them. A beautiful bunch of greens - I see it out of the corner of my eye and am drawn in. That did happen just last week with red sorrell. And I did cook it. Just on a cast iron with olive oil and garlic and lemon and it was delicious and the juice was red.
Wearing a dress with no jacket (potentially)
Wild pine needles are coming for Masha Tea
Drinking tea on my fire escape and having it be warm enough out to not have to wear socks while out there (also potentially)
We just have rooms for two and three left on the Masha Tea writing retreat :) Email for info + join :) July 1-6, 2025
My friend Kalen got a picture of me at the little Masha pop-up at Happier Grocery last Friday :) They sold out of our matcha, but we still have some on our site!
